AuraMine
Platform

One environment for evidence, liability, scenarios and decisions

AuraMine connects what is known about a site with what it will cost, what could go wrong and what it could become, and keeps a clear trail back to the evidence behind every output.

From evidence to decision

  1. GatherAll site evidence
  2. ModelConfidence-rated site
  3. CompareCost, risk and value
  4. DecideWith a clear record

Every decision traces back to its evidence

Overview

See the whole site at a glance

An overall risk score and data confidence index summarise where a site stands and how much of that view rests on solid evidence.

  • Prioritised environmental, social and financial risks
  • Evidence and sources behind every flag
  • Progress against agreed actions

Evidence

Know what you know, and what you don't

Every feature on the site is mapped and rated from confirmed to unverified, so it is clear which parts of the picture rest on measured evidence and which rest on inference.

  • Evidence register and data-gap log
  • Source, date, confidence and owner recorded for every input
  • Gaps made visible, because low information is not low liability

Interrogate the evidence in plain language

Ask questions about flagged risks, uploaded documents or recommended options, and get answers with citations to the underlying sources. AI helps extract information and spot gaps; every material input is reviewed by a person.

  • Answers cite their sources

What is driving the water treatment cost range?
Two inputs account for most of the range: the assumed treatment duration (30 to 60+ years) and the discharge flow rate, which is based on a single 2019 survey. A new flow-monitoring campaign would narrow the range most.

Liability & risk

Whole-life liability as a range, not a single number

Costs are built up from the work required, with specific risks recorded individually instead of hidden in a blanket contingency. Upfront works and long-term stewardship are shown separately, with a likely case (P50) and a more cautious case (P80).

  • P50 and P80 where the evidence supports it; low, central and high where it doesn't
  • Year-by-year profile, undiscounted and as present value
  • Top cost and uncertainty drivers, and what would narrow them

Balancing intervention performance and cost efficiency

The right intervention is not always the lowest-cost option upfront. Compare pathways on timing, capital, operating burden, residual exposure, environmental performance, land use and community outcomes, so investment goes where it delivers the strongest whole-life result.

  • Reduce avoidable closure cost

Identify where delay or intervention choice may increase future cost.

  • Compare whole-life pathways

Balance capital, performance and long-term exposure.

  • Preserve future options

Act before closure pathways become more limited or expensive.

Decisions

A defensible record of every decision

Each recommendation has a named owner, a rationale and a review date. The platform keeps an auditable record of the evidence, reasoning, decision and review status, and produces a decision brief for programme, finance and governance reviewers.

Our principles
  1. 1Evidence firstEvery output can be traced to its source.
  2. 2Ranges, not single figuresUncertainty is shown, not hidden.
  3. 3Low information is not low liabilityGaps in knowledge are made visible.
  4. 4Safety before valueThe cost of making a site safe is never offset by assumed redevelopment value.
  5. 5People make the judgementsThe platform informs decisions about risk appetite and priorities. It does not make them.
How a cost range is built
  1. Start from the work

Each cost is built from what actually needs doing and what it costs to do it.

  2. Name the risks

Things that might go wrong are listed individually, not hidden in a blanket contingency.

  3. Show the range

Results show a likely case and a more cautious case, so decision-makers can choose their level of confidence.

  4. Look over the whole life

Spending is profiled year by year, including decades of monitoring and water treatment.

AI that supports expert judgement

We use AI to speed up evidence extraction from historic documents, flag missing or inconsistent inputs, and help users interrogate the evidence. Every material input, assumption, scenario and estimate remains subject to human review and approval. AuraMine is a decision-support tool, not an engineering design, certified cost estimate or regulatory approval.

Bio+Mine

Grounded in real, multi-domain closure research

Bio+Mine provides a real-world foundation for AuraMine: multi-domain, community-engaged research from the Sto. Niño legacy mine in the Philippines, linking site conditions, interventions and community context. Part of its aim is to find where cheaper proxy measurements can replace intensive sampling.
